New Bedford – Diana Maria Sylvia, age 49, passed away on Friday August 21, 2015 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the the daughter of the late Linda (Reed) and Francisco da Silva.
Born in New Bedford Diana resided in Fairhaven and she worked as a Special Needs Teacher at The Hayden McFadden Elementary School in New Bedford.
Her family includes 2 children: Amanda B. Sylvia and Jessica A. Sylvia both of Fairhaven; her long time companion: Steven B. Ellis of Fairhaven; 2 siblings: Laura da Silva and Susan da Silva; 3 nephews: Jared da Silva, Adam Trahan and Erik Trahan and her father in law Richard Sylvia and her sister in law Donna Trahan and her husband Marcel.
She will be cremated. A service with her ashes present will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute or The Hayden McFadden Elementry School.
