Obituary

Ralph Fred “Johnny” Dollar, Jr., 89, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Dollar was born March 17, 1926, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Ralph Fred & Eugenia Cobb Dollar. He had a distinguished career with the United States Navy serving his country honorably for over 24 years. Mr. Dollar served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion. When he returned to the community in 1970, he owned and operated several restaurants and worked at many others including the Country Club, Blue Castle, J.J. Restaurant, Ann’s Country Kitchen, Al Jo’s Motel, and the Purple Duck. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church.

Mr. Dollar is survived by his daughter, Teresa Eloise Steadman of San Diego, California and a sister, Eloise Taylor of Arkansas. A faithful friend, Carol Griffin, also survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie C. Dollar; a brother, Lloyd Dollar; and a sister, Vivian Duncan.
