Teresa A. “Terry” (Delaney) Barris, age 89, of Brockton, formerly of East Bridgewater and Middleboro, died August 14, 2015 at Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital. Terry was the wife for 59 years of the late Carl A. “Mala” Barris. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Hazel (Hubbard) Delaney. A graduate of Brockton High School, Terry was a Drum Majorette and led parades for the Drum and Bugle Corps of the “Sons of Union Veterans”. They led the local troops to the train station to go overseas to fight in the war. She and her sisters, continued to enjoy music, singing and performing as the “Dancing Delaney’s” with the “Harry Swan Review”. As USO entertainers they performed at many USO clubs, military camps and hospitals during World War II. She maintained her love of music throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed playing games and socializing, with many friends and family members, and especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Terry is survived by two sons, George W. Barris and his wife Kathy of East Bridgewater and Carl J. Barris of N. Waterboro, Maine; two granddaughters Lisa Dalto and her husband Joseph and Dina Danielson and her husband Keith; four grandchildren Katelyn Dalto and Eva, Lily and Grace Danielson. She was the sister of Geraldine Riordan of Brockton and the late Mary Rose Silva, Dorothy Delaney, Joseph Delaney, Eleanor Yociz, Hazel Sabina, Roseanna McGlone, William Delaney and Patricia (Belcher) Preti. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 5-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9am for a funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, East Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
