GANNON, John L. Of Norton formerly of Hingham, Winthrop, and Revere, August 15, 2015. Beloved husband of Patricia (Iorio) Gannon. After a lengthy and courageous battle with prostate cancer, John passed peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family. Son of the late Thomas L. Gannon, Esq, and Louise V. (Gaffney) Gannon. Loving father of Melissa Gannon Chavarria and her husband Salvador of Norwell and Matthew Gannon of Norton. John was predeceased by his siblings Thomas Gannon, Mary Louise “Bebe” Brady, Elaine Sikes, (Kathleen) Claire Molloy, and William Gannon. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Joseph P. Molloy of Lynnfield and Frances (Iorio) Morgan of Norton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Raised in Winthrop and Revere, John graduated from Boston College High School in 1951, and maintained lifelong relationships with many of his classmates. John proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the US Air Force, and graduated from Boston University upon his return in 1960. After marrying in 1967, John raised his family in Hingham, where he was very active in his community.
John spent his career working in computer sales for RCA, Sperry and Unisys. He was an avid Boston sports fan who was proud to be an original season ticket holder of the New England Patriots.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Visiting Hours at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Thursday, Aug. 20 from 4-8pm and again on Friday, Aug. 21 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of the Resurrection, 1057 Main Street, Hingham at 11am. Interment in St. Paul Cemetery, Hingham.
