New Bedford – Maria Lurdes, age 87, passed away on Thursday August 13, 2015 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of David Medeiros Pavao and the daughter of the late Maria Jesus (Tavares) and Manuel De Rego.
Born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores Mrs. Lurdes moved to this country 6 years ago.
Her family includes 3 children: Ana Froias and her husband, Hermano, of Bermuda, Maria Vieira and her husband, Jose, of New Bedford and David Tavares of Bermuda; siblings: Isabela Sousa of St. Michael, Azores, the late Arminda Rego and the late Jose do Rego; as well as 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Tuesday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
