Boston - Maria Isabel (Souza) Verissimo, age 58 of New Bedford, died Tuesday, August, 12, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was the loving wife of 38 years to Jorge Manuel Verissimo and daughter of Joao Souza and the late Maria (Lima) Souza.
Maria was born Sao Mateus, Terceira, Azores and, after coming to this country, worked for AFC Cable Systems as a machine operator. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family very much especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jorge M. Verissimo, of New Bedford; her father, Joao Souza of Azores; 2 sons: Steve Verissimo, husband of Sandra and Kevin Verissimo, husband of Rebecca both of New Bedford, 3 grandchildren: Lyndsie, Vincent and Kevin Jr. Maria is also survived by 5 sisters and 2 brothers in the Azores as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Monday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday evening from 6 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
