Rita E. (Hogan) Mazzola, age 90, a long-time resident of Woburn, passed away at the Wilmington Health Care Center on August 11, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Dominic A. Mazzola for 68 years until his passing in 2009.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Anabelle (Guitard) Hogan. Mrs. Mazzola was employed as a clerk at Woolworth’s in Cambridge for over 40 years. In her spare time, Rita loved to travel, play bingo, and go to the movies. A private and quiet woman, her children recalled how she loved to listen to stories of her family and friends, who often made her laugh. The most important thing to her was her family, and the family dinners they shared together. Rita loved to host Sunday dinners in her home, with her family gathered around the table.
Rita was the devoted mother of David Mazzola of Bellingham, MA, Judith Miskell and Deborah Young, both of Woburn. She was also the dear sister of the late Thomas, William and Walter Hogan and the late Dorothy Hussey, and is further survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St, Winchester, on Sat., Aug. 15 at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11AM. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
