Robert "Ski" Dembrowski, age 74 passed in peace August 11, 2015. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Nancy (Tris). He was the loving father of Denise Stenson and her husband Mark of Marshfield, Donna Gates and her husband Lawrence of Plymouth and was a devoted grandfather to Jason Stenson of Marshfield and Chloe Gates of Plymouth.
Born, raised and educated in Syracuse, New York, Bob was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1980, which during that time he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal. After retiring from the U.S. Navy he began a lengthy career working for Stone & Webster in Boston upon his retirement.
Bob was a longtime member of The Post 79 American Legion. He served as the Past Post Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Adjutant, Vice Chairman of the Trustees, Past Color Guard Member, Member of the Weymouth Veterans Council, former Grand Marshall of the Weymouth Veterans Day Parade, Chairman Speaker at the Weymouth Korean War Memorial on Veterans Day.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours for Bob on August 15, 2015 from 8:30-10:30 AM at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM at St. Francis Xavier Church (261 Pleasant Street, S. Weymouth). Interment will be at MA National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date and will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bob to the McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537.
