Norman F. Powell, age 95 formerly of Canton and S. Yarmouth, passed away peacefully August 10th at the Charlwell House in Norwood. Born in Boston, he was raised in Roslindale and graduated from Hyde Park High. He was a proud Veteran serving in the 8th Army Air Force, 388th Bombardment Group during WW II flying 35 missions from England in 1944. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for W. R. Grace Co. in Woburn and retired in 1982. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and was an avid tennis player and golfer. Beloved husband of the late Vincenza (DiModica). Father of Gary Powell and his wife Laura of Woodstock, CT, Alan Powell and his wife Barbara of Canton, David Powell of Los Angeles, CA and Janice Clark and her husband Joseph of Hopkinton. Brother of the late Arthur F. Powell and Ruth Grove. Grandfather of Kristin Bowman, Melissa Powell, Robert Powell, William Powell, Nathan Clark and the late Timothy Clark. Relatives and friends invited to attend a funeral service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Saturday morning at 11 am. Burial at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne Monday afternoon at 12:45.
