Obituary

Harry Dodakian, 86, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Christopher House surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Sonia (Kachigian) Dodakian; 4 children, Gary and his wife Katherine of Shrewsbury, Marianne and her husband Richard B. Cavalieri of Worcester, Richard and his wife Maureen of Shrewsbury and Harry M. and his wife Suzanne of Walpole. Harry leaves 7 grandchildren, Gary Peter, Rebecca, Jessica, Allison, Michael, Amy and Andrew Dodakian. He leaves a brother Sarkis Dodakian of New Britain, CT and many nieces and nephews.

Harry was born in Worcester, son of the late Garabed and Acabe (Mergigian) Dodakian. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 40th Infantry in Korea. He was a master plumber and worked for many years as a teacher at Worcester Technical High School where he served as Plumbing Department Head. Harry was a true believer in the value of a good education and took great pride in his students and in teaching his trade. He was an active member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour and its Men's Club and was recognized by the Church in 2007 for his many years of devoted service to the Parish and Community. Harry was a member of the Greendale Men's Club, The Plumbers and Fitters Local #4, and served as a former commander for the Armenian American Veterans. The family would like to thank the staff at the Christopher House for their compassionate care of Harry.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13th at 11 am in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour 87 Salisbury St. Worcester, MA 01609. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour.
