Joanne (Sousa) Campos, of Swansea, passed away on Aug. 9, 2015 at RI Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Fenais da Luz, São Miguel, Açores, she was the widow of the late Horace Campos and the daughter of the late Joáo C. Sousa and the late Francisca (Silva) Sousa.
She lived in Ludlow, MA before coming to Fall River in 1960. She worked at four locations (Joan Fabrics, Shops A Solar & Son, Joseph Pine and Providence Pile) for ten years. The last place of employment was at Grace Barker Nursing Home in Rhode Island, in which she worked there for twenty five years and retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2005. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, knitting, crocheting, talking to friends, and getting together with family. She was a parishioner of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Swansea.
Survived by two sons Lyndon (Lenny) Campos of Somerset, MA and Kevin Campos of Swansea, MA, two grandchildren Austin Campos and Alanah Campos, sister of Hirondina Ledo of Somerset, MA and the late John C. Sousa, Silvino C. Sousa, Antonio C. Sousa, and Olivia Costa along with several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River, MA on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Francis of Assisi Church at 10:00 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
