George J. Neuman, died peacefully at his home in Briarwood Circle. He leaves his companion of 29 years, Mimi Grenier, and her family. George also leaves his 5 children; Nancy Neuman of FL; George and his wife Diane Neuman of Myrtle Beach, SC; Andrea O’Kuinghttons of Lakewood, Co; Maryann Turnbull and James Eckman of Carson City NV; and Joann and her husband David Cassidy of Ashland OR ; 7 grand children, Krista, Bradley, Ryan, Jeremy, Tim, Marissa and Kevin, and 5 great grandchildren. He leaves his sister Joan Lehn, and her husband Harvey of Franklin NY. George was predeceased by his wife of 37 years Marion “Peggy” (Lane) Neuman in 1985.
George was born in New York City, NY. He graduated from Columbia University in 1944. He founded and co-founded many companies during his career before retiring in 1992. He also taught Mathematics at Rutgers University. Upon retiring he devoted his time to civic and cultural organizations. George’s hobbies included fishing, skiing, swimming, travel and playing bridge. He enjoyed having Mimi in his life to share these interests with including their years at Briarwood.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608 or Briarwood, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01608.
