James F. Harris

James F. Harris, age 63, a lifelong resident of Medford passed away sudden and unexpectedly, August 5, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Carol T. (White) Harris. Born in Somerville he was one of seven children of the late John W. and Mary Theresa (Mason) Harris.

Jim, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was raised and educated in Medford. He was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1972 and was the captain of the hockey team.

Jim was a career firefighter. He served the City of Medford as a member of the Fire department for several years before taking a position with the Mass Port Fire Dept. where he retired from as a Captain following thirty three years of dedicated service.

In his leisure time Jim enjoyed boating, he was a member of the Riverside Yacht Club, spending time at his second home in Albany, NH, traveling and in the winter months he enjoyed skiing. Most of all, Jim enjoyed these hobbies with the people he loved, his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife Carol, Jim is survived by his children, Jason Harris and his wife Andrea, of Pelham, NH, and Kelly Young and her husband Billy, of Medford. He was the loving grandfather of Nicholas and Ashley Harris. Cherished brother of Tricia Harris and her fiancé Craig LaValle of Stoneham, Marybeth Cain and her husband Bobby of Hardeeville, SC, Rick Harris and his wife Linda of Medford, Jack Harris and his loving companion Kim Stasiak of Fryeburg, ME, the late Kathleen Harris and Thomas Harris. Brother-in-law of Larry White and his wife Lisa, Kevin White and his wife Teresa, the late Judy (White) McLaughlin and her surviving husband Mike McLaughlin, all of Medford. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his best friend, his dog, Tuckerman.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Saturday, August 8th, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours, today, Friday, from 4 thru 8 p.m. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in James' memory to the Founders Affiliate of the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
