Obituary

WORCESTER,MA/HAMPTON BEACH, NH-William T. McGuirk, 76, passed away Wednesday, August 5 at his home in Hampton Beach, surrounded by his family.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Eleanor B. (Brosnihan) McGuirk; three sons, William T. McGuirk, III and his wife, Katie of Auburn,Timothy J. McGuirk and his wife, Patricia H. of Brighton and Thomas M. McGuirk of Hampton Beach, NH; five daughters, Norene M. Coyne and her husband, James M. of Worcester, Erin P. Dobson and her husband Eric C. of Worcester, Meghan A. McDonald and her husband, John H. of Paxton, Colleen E. Murray and her husband, Kevin of Worcester, Kerry E. Wall and her husband, Matthew of Southborough, twenty grandchildren, Maura, Brendan, Timmary and Margaret Coyne, Maeghan, Shauna, William, IV and Patrick McGuirk, Timothy, Jr. and Allison McGuirk, Edward Dobson, Martha, Mabel, Agnes and John McDonald, Eleanor and Hannah Murray, Finola, Madelyn, and Martin Wall; three brothers, John F. McGuirk and his wife, Arlene of Sterling, Patrick C. McGuirk and his wife, Robin of Rutland, Michael P. McGuirk and his wife, Roni of Walla Walla, WA; two sisters, Joan P. McGuirk of Worcester and Charlotte I. McGuirk of Princeton; a brother in law, G. Timothy Brosnihan and his wife, Gail of Holden; a sister in law, Linda McGuirk of Rochdale and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Three brothers, Brian T. McGuirk, Daniel K. McGuirk and Joseph T. McGuirk and a sister, Mary Jane Donovan predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of H. Irene (Kelleher) and William T. McGuirk, Sr. He graduated from Commerce High School and Quinsigamond Community College. He served in the United States Marine Corp.

Bill was a Lieutenant for the City of Worcester Fire Department for 20 years and owner and operator of McGuirk's Ocean View at Hampton Beach, NH. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the Worcester Lodge of Elks, the Tun Tavern Society, the Worcester Fire and Police Retirement Relief Assoc., the Alhambra Knights of Columbus Council #88 and a lifetime member of the Worcester Democratic City Committee. In his younger years, he served as president of the O’Brien Little League and was chairman of the Worcester Vikings.

A Funeral will be held Monday, August 10 from Callahan Fay and Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, with a Mass at 10AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Sunday, August 9 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Visiting Hours will also be held Saturday, August 8 from 4 to 7 PM at the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the, Joseph T. McGuirk Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 940 West Boylston Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
