Sandi Lee Land, 68, entered eternal life on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in Fort Mohave, AZ.
Sandi was born August 21, 1946, in Omaha, NE. She graduated from North St Paul High School, MN, and successfully completed training as a beautician. She eventually became the proprietor of several hair salons throughout the years.
Daughter of the late John and Lillian Brodine, Sandi is survived by her husband Jerry of 48 years; her two sons, John Land of Hugo, MN, and Jason (Lori) Land of Lockhart, TX; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Sandi has two surviving sisters, Judith (Charles) Weber, of Marshfield, WI and Linda Smagacz of Nebraska; one brother, Wayne Stujt of North St Paul, MN; and one late brother, Jerome (Penny) Merkel, of Elk River, MN.
Sandi was full of fun and adventure, who loved being with family. She could strike up a conversation with anyone as if she were your next door neighbor. Although always a tough and stern matriarch, Sandi’s heart of gold showed through in the soft spot she had for children, mothering many who were not her own. She cared for animals furry and feathered alike, feeding the squirrels at her camper during the summers in Minnesota and keeping the roadrunners safe from her kitty Lucky while wintering in Arizona. Even in her retirement, Sandi enjoyed using her social skills while working at the casino in Minnesota and was proud of her tough matriarch skills heading up construction jobs in Arizona.
We will miss Sandi dearly as she now gathers her favorite daisies in her heavenly home.
Memorial service Saturday, August 22, 2015, 1:00 PM at Sandberg Funeral Home, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, with visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon. Interment at St Mary’s Cemetery Old, North St Paul immediately following.
