New Bedford – Maria Urania (Costa) Braz, age 84 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2015 at St. Lukes Hospital. She was the loved wife of the late Constantino P. Braz and daughter of the late Maria da Conceicao (Melo) and Jaime Costa. She was born in Flores, Azores and moved to this area in 1974, where she worked at Frionor as a Fish Packer.
She is survived by her children: Francisco Aurelio Braz, Carlos Jorge Braz, Maria Carmo Silva and Robert Manuel Braz, her grandchildren Lisa Braz Leblanc, Cristina Teixeira, Jenny Braz Valente, Carlos Braz Jr, Nanci Braz, and Ricardo Teixeira, as well as 3 great grandchildren, Maria is also survived by her sisters Julia Araujo, Angelina Costa and Sizaltina Freitas and several nieces and nephews
Her funeral will be Saturday morning beginning in the funeral home at 7:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 8:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 – 8 P.M.
