Obituary

Dorothy Mae (Riopelle) (Whitney) Osborne, age 73, of Brockton, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. Dorothy was the wife of the late Arthur J. Osborne. Born in Barre, VT, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. and Glenna R. (Shepard) Riopelle. She was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School where she was a member of the marching band. In her youth she enjoyed practicing her catholic faith as an active member of Catholic Daughters. While raising her children, she was active in their neighborhood’s activities. She enjoyed knitting, dancing, cake decorating, bowling, cooking, baking and being a mom. Dorothy was a feisty, spirited, hard working woman who worked as a cook at McDonalds in Canton for 28 years As a Grandmother and Mom she loved to spend as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was the mother of Michael S. Whitney, Lorri A. Whitney, Michelle A. Sloan and her husband Jesse all of Brockton, and Jeannie M. Perretta and her husband James of Glastonbury, CT; grandmother of Brian Whitney and his wife Michelle, Patrick Whitney, Robin Whitney, Christopher Sloan, James Rocci, Nicole Rocci, Anna Mae Sloan and Angelina Perretta; great grandmother of Logan Whitney, and sister of Ronald Riopelle and his wife Marta of Lecanto, FL, Albert Riopelle of Boston and the late Francis Sasorn. She was the former wife of Roger Whitney.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rt 123) Brockton, Thursday 5-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 8am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
