Obituary

Vasilios “Bill” Pappas, 61, of Holden died unexpectedly, early Friday, July 31st in UMASS Memorial Medical Center.
He leaves two brothers, Theodore Pappas and his wife, Ourania of Holden and Themistoklis Pappas and his wife, Georgia of Psina Ioannina Greece; three sisters, Vasiliki Pappas and her husband, Athansios of Sydney, Australia, Pangiota Giotis and her husband, Evangelos of Fall River, and Margarita Zois of Germany; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a nephew, Theophilos Pappas and a brother in law, Demos Zois.
He was born July 22, 1954 in Psina, Ioannina Greece, son of the late Kostasdinos and Sevasti (Stergious) Pappas. Bill emigrated to Worcester in 1970. He was a member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association. He worked in several pizza restaurants over the years and for the last eight for the MassDOT. He was beloved by his family and friends. Bill’s greatest pleasures were playing backgammon with his friends at the Ahepa house and sharing his calm smile and easy going demeanor with his family. He had a unique close relationship with all of his nieces and nephews always presenting a warm heart felt hug and a reassuring word, for them and their children. He will be greatly missed.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, August 5th from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is directing arrangements.
