Obituary

Robert R. Dennehy, age 75, of Middleboro for the past 14 years, died at his home on Friday July 31, 2015. He was the loving husband of Pamela (Taylor) Dennehy for 33 years. Bob was a graduate of Stonehill College with a B.S. in Law Enforcement and Anna Maria College with a M.A. in Criminal Justice.
Bob was born in Brockton a son of the late William and Doris (Lofstrom) Dennehy. He joined the Navy in 1957 serving until 1963. He rejoined the Naval Reserves in 1978 with the Military Police unit. His travels included Portugal, Algiers, Bermuda, Newfoundland and Spain. He was discharged in 1985 as a Senior Petty Officer, E-6.
Bob joined the Brockton Police Department in 1964, retiring as a Sergeant in 1993. While with the department, he served as a detective with the Anti-Crime Unit, Bomb Squad and as a member of the Honor Guard.
Bob loved being outdoors; he loved hunting and fishing and sharing that with his grandchildren. He especially loved driving his RV exploring the USA and camping closer to home with friends and family.
Bob will be remembered for his strong opinions but gentle heart.
Bob was the proud father of Robert R. Dennehy, Jr. of Quincy, Maurya Muise of Bridgewater, Kristen Newell and her husband Paul of Brockton, Julie Dennehy of Roslindale, and Karin Sullivan and her husband Robert of Bridgewater. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew Dennehy, Stephanie Muise, Grace Muise, Shawn Muise, William Sullivan and Adam Sullivan; great grandfather of Aiden Hoyt-Dennehy. He is also survived by his brothers William Dennehy, Jr. of Kingston and David Dennehy of East Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 3-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30am for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 10:30am. Burial in the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne on Friday at 10am.
