Obituary

Richard Penta, 82, of Derry, NH, died Thursday July 30, 2015 in the Bedford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, NH. He was born in Everett, MA on July 22, 1933, a son of the late Michael and Josephine (Vaccaro) Penta, and had been a resident of Derry since 1999. Mr. Penta was a US Navy Korean war veteran. He was the owner and operator of Penta Engineering. His favorite pastime was tinkering with computers and cars. His greatest enjoyment was taking long trips with his family especially along the Maine coast. In addition, Richard was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathy Curtin and her husband David, Brenda Penta, and Dawn Penta all of Derry; three grandchildren, Eileen, Jessica, and Mike; four great grandchildren, Cameron, Callie, Austyn, and R.J.; and his sister, Dorothy Burke of Littleton, MA. He was predeceased by his wife, Sonya E. (Chesley) Penta who died May 5, 2015; two brothers, Joseph and Robert; and three sisters, Evelyn Parcellin, Helen D'Alelio, and Lillian Galasso.
Private services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The burial will be in NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
