Lawrence J. McDonald, 72, a resident of Methuen, MA. died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
He was born in Lawrence on December 7, 1942 to Joseph & Emma (Belisle) McDonald. Educated in Lawrence, MA and a graduate of Lawrence High School. He worked as an Inspector for Gillette Corporation for many years until his retirement. According to his family he had a dry wit about him and that he was very kind & caring towards his family and friends, he especially loved family gatherings. He resided in Lawrence, Salem, NH, and the Methuen Village. He was a volunteer for Hospice and would sit and comfort patients and take them to doctor appointments and shopping for many years. He had a passion for shopping and he would be out there every day buying something rain or shine. He was a very devout catholic, he lead the rosary two nights a week while living at the Methuen Villages. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Salem, NH, where he sang in the choir and was a Eucharistic minister. He is finally at Peace and in the arms of god.
Survived by his brother: Richard and sister-in-law Sheila of Salisbury, MA nephews: Kevin and his wife Lauren of North Andover, Scott McDonald of Chicago, IL and devoted friend Dolly Zimmer. As well as several grand nephews and nieces.
