BAGLEY, Atty. Ralph R. of Winthrop, July 26, 2015. Beloved husband for over 50 years to the late Joanne T. (Thibodeau) Bagley. Devoted father of Jane B. Holaday of Newburyport, Peter J. Bagley and his wife Lee of Marshfield, Douglas N. Bagley of Hong Kong, China, and Martha R. Bagley, Esq. and her husband Bruce B. Simpson of Marblehead. Adored grandfather of Elizabeth and Kathryn Holaday and Daniel, Richard, Ryan and Patrick Bagley. Dear brother of the late Col. James E. Bagley III-U.S. Army (Ret). Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Sat, Aug 1, at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop, at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Fri. July 31 from 3-8pm. Attorney Bagley was raised in East Boston and attended Boston College HS, Boston College, and Boston College Law School obtaining the distinction of triple Eagle. He passed the Massachusetts Bar Exam in 1950 at the young age of 21. Mr. Bagley served in the United States Marine Corps., during the Korean War, where he rose to the rank of full Colonel and was an active reservist for 30 years. He practiced law with his father, James E. Bagley at Bagley and Bagley until 1973, and maintained the firm with his daughter Martha until 2008 when the firm dissolved. In addition to practicing law, Ralph served as a Manager and Secretary/Treasurer of the Boston Port and Seaman’s Aid Society for over 35 years, as well as Assistant Treasurer of the Boston Marine Society. He served as a Trustee and Director of the East Boston Savings Bank and was instrumental in its long term success including the relocation of its headquarters from East Boston to Peabody, MA. His other board memberships included Community Workshops, Winthrop Hospital, the Essex Co. and various Town of Winthrop Committees and he remained a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop.
