Ernest D. Coats, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, July 26, 2015, Mr. Ernest D. Coats, Jr., 61, loving husband to the late Susan Hardy Coats.
Mr. Coats was a native of Birmingham, Alabama but lived in Augusta for many years. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Economics and Georgia State with a degree in Finance. He moved to the Marietta area after beginning a career in banking. He retired in 2013 from the State of Georgia with 30 years of service in the Banking Industry. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta.
Family members include his father: Ernest D. Coats, Sr.; mother: the late Sara H. Coats, brothers: James H. Coats and wife Sherry, Michael J. Coats and wife Deanna; many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins; uncle and aunt: Daniel and the late Ann Miles and stepson: Stephen Hardy.
The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Lou Lindsey celebrant. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until time of service. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Fain, Phillip White, Gregg McFeeley, Sam Wheatley, and Kimsey Hamrick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
