Obituary

Edmund P. “Ed” Skinner age 94 of Hyannis, died Sunday July 19, 2015 at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Eva E. (O’Donnell) Skinner. Ed was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late James A. and Frances M. (Lawler) Skinner and since 1987 had been a resident of Hyannis.
Ed was a 1938 graduate of Brockton High School and during WWII, proudly served in the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. For many years Ed was a planner and estimator at the Boston Navy Shipyard. After retiring in the late 1960s, he worked at the Foley, Hoag and Eliot Law Firm in Boston.
Ed was a longtime and the oldest member of the Hyannis Yacht Club where he loved to sit and talk with his friends. He also loved to keep current with politics and sports. He will be remembered as a kind, giving and loving man who loved life and appreciated each day. He was the true epitome of the greatest generation.
He was most proud of his family and had been a longtime communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
Ed leaves many nieces and nephews including Mary E. Davis of Marshfield, James A. Skinner of Boise, Idaho; Edward “Ted” Skinner of Lakeville and Kathleen A. Goldrick of Taunton. He was the brother of the late Irwin, James, Lorraine and Helen Skinner, Frances Lombardi, Dorothy Odiorne and Marie Murphy.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday 9:30 – 10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 11 am.
