Obituary

Mrs. Germaine A. (Monfet) Dumont, a resident of North Andover, formerly of Methuen and beloved wife of the late Leo Dumont, passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill on Thursday morning, July 9, 2015. She was 93 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on July 15, 1921, she was the beloved daughter of the late Philbert and Beatrice (Dumais) Monfet. Mrs. Dumont graduated from Sacred Heart Grammer School and joined the Sisters of the Holy Union of the Sacred Heart at age 16 where she completed her high school education and obtained her Bachelors degree. She served as a grade school teacher with the Sisters of the Holy Union for 31 years. Following her departure from the convent, she worked at Western Electric in North Andover and then returned to teaching for several more years in the North Andover and Methuen school systems until she retired. She married her late husband in 1984 and together they enjoyed retirement and frequent travel.
Mrs. Dumont loved bingo, playing cards, scrabble, crossword puzzles, going to lunch with friends, and an occasional trip to the casino. Most recently, Germaine enjoyed her active life at Ashland Farms in North Andover where she made many wonderful friends. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her step-daughter; Eleanor Bouchard of Methuen, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, on Monday, July 20, 2015, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of ones choice. Interment will be held in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover.
