José Tavares, age 65, of Fall River passed away on Tuesday July 14, 2015. Born in Santa Barbara Santo Antonio Alem Capelas, São Miguel, Açores he was the son of the late José and Francelina (Oliveira) Tavares, and husband of the late Agueda Maria Tavares. José was a former boat builder for Pearson Yachts, an avid gardener, enjoyed walking and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children; Joseph Tavares (wife Suzette) and Stephanie Richard (husband Jeffrey), siblings; Maria José Simão, Antonio and Manuel Oliveira Porto, João Deus Porto, Andelino and Americo Tavares, grandchildren; Jordan, Dawson, and Arianna Tavares, Jeffrey Richard Jr. and Cameron Richard, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Francelina Amaral.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Saturday at 7:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church, at 8:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Friday 5-9 P.M.
