Obituary

Mr. Wilfred Eugene “Gene” Cabana, of Centerville and formerly of Leominster and Taunton, died Monday, July 13 in Harbor Point, Centerville, following a period of failing health. He was born 76 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Wilfred P. and Cecile A. (Malo) Cabana. He was educated in Taunton, attended the GTE Technical College and had been a Cape Cod resident for the past 20 years. Prior to his retirement, Gene had been employed as an engineer for G.T.E. in California and Virginia for over 25 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the early Vietnam era. He was a member of the Hyannis Lodge of Elks and the Knights of Columbus. Gene was a proud American, a hard worker, and a patriot dedicated to our national security. He enjoyed spending time with and assisting his family, and adored his nieces and nephews. He was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Church in Taunton.
He leaves: 2 brothers: Peter Cabana and his wife, Elizabeth of Tisbury, and Charles Cabana and his wife, Nancy Dias of Ludlow; 2 sisters: Jill Levesque and her husband, Henry of Middleboro, and Lynn Cabana and her husband, Ralph Schunk, Jr. of Plymouth, and 6 nieces and nephews: Benjamin and Emily Levesque, Mark, Nicole, Mia and Nathan Cabana
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Monday, July 20 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visiting Hour will be held prior to the funeral, Monday, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, Ma.,02472
