Obituary

Mary E. (Tarchea) Hill 87, of Walpole, died unexpectedly July 12 at the Victoria Haven Nursing Facility. She was the wife of the late Noel Richard “Jake” Hill, who died in 2009.
Born in Norwood, October 26, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Alveria (Caleo) Tarchea, Mrs. Hill was a lifelong Walpole resident.
She was a graduate of Walpole High School and the Henry O. Peabody School in Norwood.
Mrs. Hill retired from the Walpole School System after 15 years as a cook and later worked for American Auto Auction in Dighton for 20 years until her retirement at the age of 80.
Mary had been a volunteer for the SHARE program; she had also been member of the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary in Walpole and a member of the Blessed Sacrament St. Theresa Society of which her Grandmother was a founding member.
Mary loved the beach, reading, was very active in the Walpole Senior Center activities. Her main passions in life were cooking and spending time with those she loved which were many.
She is survived by her devoted children, Janet Perkins and her husband David of Hampton, New Hampshire, Jeanne Hill of Walpole, N. Richard Hill Jr. and his wife Janel of Raynham and Karen (Hill) Martin of Mansfield.
She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Lesley Hill, Cameron Perkins, Gregory Martin and Evan Hill.
She was the sister of the late Peter Tarchea, Marjorie Harrington and Evelyn Tarchea.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfineralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 17 at 9:15 at the Ginley Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, South Walpole.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Walpole Area VNA PO Box 252, Walpole, MA 02081.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Victoria Haven Nursing Facility for their caring and dedicated treatment of their mother during her stay there. They also want to thank her personal care giver, Mary Stetson for her compassion and devotion for her care at home.
