TAUNTON – Theresa P. (Thuotte) Mendes of Taunton, devoted wife of Charles Mendes for the past sixty-two years, died at Morton Hospital on July 10, 2015.
She was 84.
Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Lucie (Emond) Thuotte.
She was a 1950 graduate of Brockton High School.
A homemaker and stay-at-home mother for most of her adult life, Theresa was known in the family circle to be able to get any spot out of any article of clothing.
A communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church and member of the parish Women’s Guild, she was also a beloved member of the family club known as “The Cousins Club”.
Mrs. Mendes loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She loved nature, birds, animals, playing cards, games, bingo and her TV programs.
She was an avid reader and loved music, family gatherings, parties and dancing with her husband.
She was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Charles L. Mendes and his fiancé Diane Carroll of Lee, MA and Paul A. Mendes and his companion Michaela Greene of E. Taunton; three daughters, Patricia A. Paige and her husband Edwin of N. Dighton, Jeanne M. Meimarides and her husband Steve of Mansfield and Lucy M. Gearty and her husband Timothy of Norwood; five grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Benjamin, Amanda and William; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Roland Blanchette, Claire Dupuis and Lorraine Kreft.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, July 15th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
