Obituary

NATICK: R. Frances “Frannie” (Mailhiot) Fay, age 83, a long time Natick resident, died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday evening, July 7, 2015, at Mary Ann Morse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, her home for the past eight years. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard David Fay for 46 years.

Born in Framingham, she was a daughter of the late Francoise A. and Mary Elizabeth (Bell) Mailhiot. She was raised in Natick and continued her education at secretarial school after her graduation from Natick High School. Frannie then worked in the office at her family’s business, Natick Sheet Metal, for several years.

The Fays were married in 1954 and made their home in Natick. Frannie became employed with the Zayre Corporation, later TJX, where she worked as an executive secretary for over 35 years. She enjoyed nature walks, tending her gardens, and crocheting. By all accounts a fantastic cook, Frannie was also possessed of a sharp wit, sometimes acerbic but always fun, and exuded a warmth that won her many friends and happy acquaintances throughout her life.

Predeceased by Richard in 2000, their son, Stephen V. Fay in 2014, and son-in-law Brian Markey in 2006, she is survived by their daughter, Diane M. Markey and her fiancé Ed Costa of Shrewsbury; their daughter-in-law, DeDe (Della Torre) Fay of Natick; three grandchildren, Jennifer Markey and her husband Mike Carreiro of Westborough, and David Markey and Laura Markey, both of Shrewsbury; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mary Alice Mailhiot Martins-Queiros, Francis “Sonny” Mailhiot, and Philip Mailhiot.

Her funeral service will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Saturday, July 11th at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends may gather with the family beginning at 9:30AM.

Burial will be in Saint Patrick Cemetery. Donations in Frannie’s memory may be made to Brookhaven Hospice, 6 Beech St., Framingham, MA 01702.
