Obituary

LACONIA- William “Bill” E. Miles, 80, of the Taylor Home Community passed away on July 6, 2015 at Genesis Rehabilitation Center with his loving family by his side.
Bill was born on April 13, 1935 in Charleston, Illinois, the son of Albert and Katherine (Hunt) Miles. He retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of active service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars as an aircraft instrument technician as well as an instructor. Bill also was a 32nd degree mason and a member of Bektash Shrine. In 1974 Bill retired to Belmont, where he built his home and raised his family and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was employed at Hoyt Electric in Penacook and later worked as a bus driver for the Gilmanton and Gilford school district for many years.
Bill will be remembered most of all for his love of family and friends. His hobbies include playing his musical instruments, golfing, fishing, woodcarving and making model airplanes. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends and sharing stories around the campfire. He was devoted to his wife, Barbara, for 52 years of marriage. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of his life.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara (Miller) Miles of Laconia, three children; Debra Miles of New Hampton, Lloyd Miles and his wife Andrea of Gilford and Elizabeth (Tibby) Rainbolt and her husband David of Oklahoma, eight grandchildren; Brandi and Tim Smith, Megan and Melissa Miles, Dillon and Danielle Black and Bill and Jeff Patenaude and four great-grandchildren; Lucas and Makenzi Lord, Thomas Patenaude and Hunter Smith.
Calling hours will be held from 1PM to 4PM on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 13, 2015, also at the funeral home. Graveside committal with military honors will be held at 1:30PM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
