Obituary

Josephine M. (Bisi) Soucy, 92, of Worcester died Sunday, July 5th in the Christopher House surrounded by her family. Her husband of 37 years, Wallace F. Soucy died in 1983. She leaves two daughters, Susan Richardson and her husband, Joel E. and Deborah Orcutt and her husband, Ronald both of Worcester; four grandchildren, Neal Richardson and his children, Shay and Brendan; Brian Richardson and his wife, Tara and their children, Isabelle, Tyler and Brayden; Joseph Orcutt and his wife, Kristy and their children, Ava and Michael; and Julie Hurley and her husband, Rich and their children, Joseph and Gabriella; many nieces and nephews; and an abundant of close friends. She was predeceased by a son, Wallace P. Soucy; five brothers and a sister.
She was born in South Glastonbury, CT the daughter of Marco and Louise (Toscano) Bisi. Josephine grew up on a farm in South Glastonbury and had many stories to share with her children and grandchildren on how to run a farm. She met her future husband, Wallace at club, married him and moved to the big city of Worcester. Mrs. Soucy worked at her husband’s appliance store, Soucy Brothers, where she did the books. She also worked for the Worcester Public Schools as a teacher’s aide, most recently at Mill Swan School. Josephine enjoyed life and loved spending time with her family and playing bingo. She loved baking and cooking for the holiday’s especially making Italian cookies. Josephine always enjoyed sharing from her garden or baked items from her kitchen with her family and friends. Over the years, Josephine rescued several Doberman’s. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and its Woman’s Guild and Rosary Group.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Belmont Unit at the Christopher House for the love, compassion and care they offered to Josephine during her stay.
Her funeral is Wednesday, July 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 7th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
