Obituary

Guir, A. Raquel. (Mejia), of Jamaica Plain passed on to the presence of the Lord on July 4th, 2015 surrounded by her extended loving family. Beloved wife of the late Juan R. Guir. Mama Raquel or Tia Raquel as she was known to the brethren in her church, grew up in Guatemala, daughter of Cirilo and Ester Mejia with five brothers and four sisters. Mama (Tia) Raquel loved Jesus, her husband, 9 children, 26 grand and 10 great grand children. She also loved her church family in Boston and the brethren from the many other congregations that she belonged to throughout her life both in Guatemala and Massachusetts. She is survived by five sons and their wives: Julio and Mercedes, Edgar and Rebeca, Jorge and Lily, David and Aura and Rodolfo and Claudia. Three daughters and their husbands: Cesar and Maria Cruz, Donald and Ana Boyd and Alex and Beatriz Mendoza, and the late Liz Guir Visiting hours 6-9 PM at Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home. 1803 Centre Street WEST ROXBURY on Thursday July 9th. A memorial service will be celebrated at Temple Ohabei Shalom located at 1187 Beacon Street, Brookline MA 02446 at 9:00 AM on Friday July 10, 2015. All are welcome. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home and donations may be made in Raquel’s memory to: El Shaddai Ministries-MA to the Children’s Bread and Fish Fund.
