Salvatore DiMeo passed away on Friday at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 75. Born and raised in Prezza, Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Raffaele and Antonietta DiMeo. He came to the United States with his family in 1969, living in Somerville before settling in Medford in 1980. He worked as a construction foreman for many years with Barr and Barr Construction and was a member of Local 22. He enjoyed gardening in his spare time. He was a sports fan and enjoyed following baseball and hockey. Most of all he looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart.


The beloved husband of Lucia (Sandonato) DiMeo, he was a devoted father to Antonietta Zavaras and her husband Peter of Lynnfield, Ralph DiMeo and his wife Gina of Andover. He was a loving grandfather to Alexis, Evan and Audra. He was the brother of the late Domenica DiMeo and is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, July 2nd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Wednesday 4 - 8PM.
