Obituary

NORTH DIGHTON – M. Madeline (Pontes) DeCosta, wife of Ronald F. DeCosta, died unexpectedly at her North Dighton home on June 28, 2015.
She was 79.
Born in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Machado) Pontes. Madeline was raised in N. Dighton and was a 1953 graduate of Dighton High School.
A retired principle head clerk, she was employed by the Mass. Dept. of Public Works for over 35 years.
She retired in 1992.
In her spare time, Madeline enjoyed crocheting; and playing Bingo and Mahjong.
She was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Ronald D. DeCosta of Utica, NY; a grandson, David J. DeCosta of VT; four brothers, Virgil, Edward and Albert Pontes, all of N. Dighton and Gilbert Pontes of Assonet; 3 sisters, Jenny Andrade, Olive Mendoza and Anita Marsella, all of N. Dighton; an aunt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late George Pontes and Joseph Machado.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, July 2nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Nicholas of Myra Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at the Dighton Veterans Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 1st from 5 to 8 p.m.
