Mrs. Barbara A. (Rice) Costa, of Raynham, died Sunday, June 28 in Taunton Nursing Home following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph V. Costa. She was born 86 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Hugh and Jane (Damour) Rice. She was educated in Taunton and had been a Raynham resident for the past 63 years. Prior to her retirement, Barbara had been employed in the Housekeeping Department of the former Paul A. Dever State School for 11 years. She was also involved in the operation of the former Costa’s Farm in Raynham for many years, and was also employed at the former Butterworth’s Restaurant in Raynham. Barbara enjoyed playing poker, visiting Twin Rivers, antiques and spending time with her family.
She leaves: 1 son: David A. Costa and his wife, Barbara J. of Raynham; 3 granddaughters: Tara Reed and her husband, Mark of Raynham, Kristy Costa of Dighton, and Amy Pittsley and her husband Rob of Raynham; 4 great grandchildren: Matt and Tim Reed, Addison and David Pittsley, and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was also the mother of the late Joseph D. Costa of Maryland, and the sister of the late William, Allan, Andrew, Raymond and Henry Rice, Alice Morris, Beatrice McMahon, Adrienne Lajoie and Virginia Roscoe.
Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
