New Bedford – Anataria C. Pereira, age 85 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday June 28, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Jose V. Pereira and the daughter of the late Louisa (Pestana) and Jose Farpalha. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, Mrs. Pereira moved to this country in 1975 and devoted her life to the upbringing of her family.
Her family includes her son, Manuel F. Pereira and his wife Maria of Acushnet, her grandchildren: Judy Levitre and Steven Pereira, a great grandchild, Sidney, and is also survived by 3 sisters, 2 brothers in Canada and Connecticut as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 1 brother
Her funeral will be Wednesday, July 1 beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 7 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
