Obituary

It is with sad news we announce the passing of Bert Burger, age 76. He leaves behind daughters Michelle Waldberg, age 52, and Irene Capuano, age 55, and grandchildren Quinn Waldberg and Ariel Capuano
Bert was a 30-year resident of Ventura. He loved to walk along the Ventura pier and sit in his car watching the waves crash on the shoreline while he played “search-a-word” puzzles. He met every evening with his “executive” committee at Starbucks to discuss the issues of the day and he never ceased to be there to help a friend in need.
Bert immigrated to the United States in 1957 as an Electrician Journeyman and became a US citizen. He always stressed to his children the importance of a good education and the responsibility of voting. He was very proud of his citizenship.
He joined GTE as a cable splicer in 1962 and worked himself into a management position. He retired in 1993 as a Network Sales Engineer after earning the prestigious “Winner’s Circle Award”
He truly loved life. He loved his family. He was always there with a helping hand or a sound word of advice. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a Most Holy Rosary to be recited at 9:30am on Tuesday June 30, 2015 in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 10800 Henderson Street Ventura. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Church at 10am. Interment will immediately follow in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road Ventura. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School Educational Program.
