Obituary

Fred Smith, 80, of Berlin, NH, passed away on Tuesday June 23, 2015 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Berlin on January 9, 1935 the son of Alex and Eweltra (Eustic) Smith and was a lifelong resident. He had been employed by the C.N. Railroad and St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad for 38 years and had served with the US Army. Fred was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, enjoyed collecting coins, was active in the Berlin-Gorham Historical Society, volunteered at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital as a member of the Auxiliary, loved talking about the railroad, volunteered at CAP, was a presenter for Operation Life Saver, was past President of the Railroad Union and enjoyed researching the history of Berlin.

Family includes his wife Juliette (Dandeneau) Smith of Berlin, NH; sons Michael Smith of Berlin, NH and Mark Smith and wife Heather of Swanzey, NH; daughter Shelley Wadleigh and husband Bill of Kensington, NH; grandchildren Alex Smith and Laura Smith; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother George Sheptor.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday June 30, 2015 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will be in the Russian City Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7 to 9 PM.
