Obituary

Frances L. Keown passed away in the early hours of June 18, comforted by her family.
She was the beloved wife of Philip J. Keown, with whom she recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Born and raised in Lynn, Fran was a lifelong parishioner of St. Michael’s Church moving to Sacred Heart in recent years after the closing of St. Michael’s.

She was also a 15-year veteran of GE Aviation in Lynn. Fran was well remembered for her years behind the counter at her mother’s diner, “Edna’s Lunch” in McDonough Square. She was also a regular at the bingo nights sponsored by St. Michael’s and the Knights of Pythias. Also an ardent cribbage player, she was very successful in the leagues and tournaments that were held in the surrounding communities. Fran brought her family together for years with her Sunday dinners and holiday feasts. Family was her life’s blood and all were welcome at her table.

She cherished her three children, Philip B. Keown and his wife Susan of Peabody; Helen Keown-Crilley and her husband Scott; and John J. Keown, all of Lynn. Fran will also be remembered by her three grandchildren: Bridget Keown of Peabody, Susan Douglas and James Tranfaglia both of Lynn. She also leaves four great-grandchildren, Dana and Daniel Coogan and Michael and Lily Douglas. She was the daughter of John and Hedwig (Edna) Prushinski. Fran was a sister of Helen Hurley of Lynn and William Prushinski of Intervale, N.H., and the late John Prushinski. Her passing leaves behind a hole in the hearts of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the medical staff at Union Hospital, Shaughnessy Rehab Hospital and especially Care Dimensions Hospice for their dedication and compassion.
