Mrs. Ruth Helen Chaplin, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Ralph J. Chaplin, passed away at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge on Thursday morning, June 18, 2015. She was 86 years old.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts, she was the beloved daughter of the late Leonard and Marion (Delorey) Myers. Mrs. Chaplin was a secretary for the Medford Public School system for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and knitting. She was also a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Medford and was a great pen-pal to many. Mrs. Chaplin always loved to send cards for all occasions to her many family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
She was the loving mother of Laurie A. Merrigan of Hooksett, New Hampshire, Nancy E. Chaplin of Medford and the late Cynthia G. Chaplin. Devoted sister of William D. Myers of Scottsdale, Arizona, Marjorie Sanford of Salisbury and the late John L. Myers. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 Great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Her funeral service will be celebrated in the First Baptist Church, 29 Oakland Street, Medford, on Monday, June 22, 2015, at 10AM. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, June 21, 2015, from 3 to 6 PM in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., Medford. Interment will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
