Lina Caranfa of Somerville died Wednesday, June 17. Born in Villilago, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Filomena (D'Antonio) Grossi. Lina came to the U.S. in her teens, settling first in Boston's North End before moving to Somerville in the 1950's, where she spent the rest of her life.

Lina was the beloved wife of Domenico Caranfa of Somerville, and the devoted mother of Anthony Caranfa and his wife Rose of Medford, Paul Caranfa and his wife Andrea of Reading, Steven Caranfa and his wife Kim of Somerville and the late Susan Caranfa. She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer, Anthony and his wife Christy, Emily, Layla and Sabrina. Lina was the sister of the late Giovanni Grossi and his wife Pia of Saugus, sister-in-law of Clara Jansen and her late husband Joseph of Somerville, and the daughter-in-law of Assunta Caranfa and her late husband Ginevro of Somerville. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medfdord on Monday, June 22, at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, June 21, from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
