Gilford-----Suzanne Whitney, 70, of Saltmarsh Pond Road, died on Friday, June 12, 2015 at home with her family by her side.
Suzanne was born on December 15, 1944 in Laconia, NH. The daughter of George and Mabel (Tottie) Barnes. She resided in Belmont, NH before moving to Gilford nearly fifty years ago. Suzanne began her career as a secretary at Weeks Dairy in Laconia. After working for several years at the Dairy she went to work for the Town of Gilford, in the appraisal department. Not long after going to work for the town she then transferred to the Gilford Fire Department, where she was the secretary to the chief for many years. Suzanne finished her career spending 18 years at the Gilford Sundial shop where she enjoyed getting to know many of her customers and their families in the local community. Suzanne enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking trips to the ocean in the summer, and spending time working in her garden. Suzanne was actively involved at the Gilford Community Church.
Suzanne is survived by her loving husband, Allan D. Whitney, of Gilford; a daughter, Michelle Whitney, of Laconia and a sister, Nancy Barnes, of Ocala Florida and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents.
There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00am at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH.
