NATICK: Florence Ann Madeline (MacLeod) MacLeod, 96, went to be with the Lord comfortably and peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 11, 2015.
She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada the daughter of the late James Alexander MacLeod and Mary Ann (MacCuish) MacLeod. At the young age of six months when her parents died, she was lovingly adopted and raised by her uncle and aunt, the late John Alexander MacLeod and Annie (Munroe) MacLeod.
She was the devoted wife for 55 years of the late Roy Duncan MacLeod who died on July 31, 2005.
She is survived by her loving children; Esther Hollo and her husband Rev. Samuel Hollo of Alton Bay, NH formerly of Natick; Valerie Keith and her husband Rev. Denis Keith of North Easton; John MacLeod and his wife Carla MacLeod of Brooklyn, NY and Graham MacLeod and his wife Mary Beth MacLeod of North Easton. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many family members in Canada. Sister of the late Malcolm MacLeod and John C. MacQueen.
Florence spent her formative years in Gabarus, Nova Scotia, Canada where she was educated and came to the United States in 1955 and lived in Somerville and Arlington. A single woman ahead of her time and generation, she traveled and resided in Florida and California before moving back to Nova Scotia to marry her husband Roy.
Florence was committed to the followings of Jesus Christ and her deep faith led her to the devotion of raising her family. Her love of children and her warm and loving nature saw her teach church Sunday school, was a leader in Child Evangelism Fellowship, hosting the Good News Club at her home and always having her door open for missionaries. As a senior citizen, Florence took courses in Gaelic at Harvard University and was a member of the Gaelic Chorus at the Needham Presbyterian Church. She was a warm and welcoming woman, gracious, hospitable and devoted to her family and friends.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the funeral home with her sons-in-law, Rev. Samuel Hollo and Rev. Denis Keith, officiating.
Interment will follow in the MacLeod family lot in The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker Street, West Roxbury.
