Obituary

FALL RIVER … Katherine J. Hopkins, 77, of Swansea, formerly of Fall River, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Fall River a daughter of the late Glenn A. and Norma (Hutzal) Hopkins and had lived most of her life in Fall River.
Katherine was a volunteer at Catholic Memorial Home through Community Connections, of which she was a client since January of 1984. She attended events with People Inc., and was a client of the Department of Developmental Services. She enjoyed arts and crafts, swimming, spending time with friends from Community Connections, and her family.
The family would like to thank the following for the excellent care that Katherine had received: Dr. Marivyl Laxer, Dr. Linsey Philip, Dr. Pilar Alonso, Truesdale Health - Gastroenterology and Surgery, Charlton Memorial Hospital - Emergency Room, ICU, Endoscopy, and Moran 3, Community Connections Elder Services - Alyssa Lynch, Karen Miller, and staff, Gail Laferriere her case coordinator at D.D.S., and most of all Horace Mann Educational Associates Oak St., Swansea location - Catherine Davis and staff for their excellent care of Katherine.
Survivors include 2 sisters: Ruth A. Farias, her husband Steven M. Farias, Barbara A. Medeiros, 2 nephews James H. Gallant, Jr and his wife Sandy of Westport, Stephen M. Farias of Fall River, 2 great nephews, Maximus and Marcus Gallant of Westport, and special friend Madeline Gray. She was the sister-in-law and Hot Tomato to the late Gary W. Medeiros. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish.
Services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 8AM from the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM at Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Road, Fall River. Interment will be Newport Memorial Park. Calling hours will be Friday 5 - 8 PM.
