She leaves three daughters, Anne S. Matson and her husband George of Merrimack, NH, Nancy M. Haig and her husband Daniel of Millbury, Karen E. Bisson and her husband Michael of Sterling; her son, William R. Bowler of Worcester; five grandchildren, Darin Haig and his wife Chantal of Millbury, with whom Evelyn lived, Deborah Champagne and her husband Peter of Merrimack, NH, Eric Matson and his wife Kate of Melrose, Michael Noborini of Sterling, James Noborini and his partner Angela SanSoucie of Sutton; five great grandchildren, Sophie, Norah and Lilly Haig, Anthony and Vincent Noborini; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret A. “Peg” Bowler in 2012; and two brothers, Andrew Fagerquist in 2009 and Donald Fagerquist, a well known trumpet player who died in California in 1974. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Bernard A. and Florence I. (Moran) Fagerquist and was a 1938 graduate of Commerce High School. She lived in Worcester most of her life until moving to Millbury in 2005.
Evelyn worked as a secretary at St. Vincent Hospital School of Anesthesia for 12 years until she retired in 1983. She was a member of St. Brigid’s Church in Millbury and a former member of St. Bernard’s Church in Worcester where she served as a CCD Teacher in her younger years. She enjoyed gardening, picking blueberries, sewing, coin collecting, caring for the chickens around her home and being a member of the Millbury Senior Center where she played Bingo. Her biggest joys were any parties or cookouts with all her family and weekly tea parties with her great granddaughters. She was truly the matriarch of her family.
