LACONIA – Marie Rose Carignan, 101, of 30 County Drive, formerly of 83 Highland Street, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Belknap County Nursing Home.
She was born on August 23, 1913 in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Henry and Eva (St. Louis) Prince and was baptized at St. Bernard Church. Marie moved to Franklin when she was four and later to Laconia where she resided near to friends and family for over sixty years. . She worked for a number of years for Sulloway Hosiery Mill. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia where she was also a member of the Ladies Guild. During the 1980’s into the late 1990’s she, alongside her sister, Rosie, served as volunteers at the Senior Center in Laconia, working in the kitchen, cooking and serving meals. She loved playing bingo at the Senior Center, winning often. Marie was a member of the Canado-Americans and enjoyed her friendships with all she met, especially those at the Laconia Senior Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Chamberlain and her husband Stephen of Laconia, three grandchildren; Kevin Chamberlain and Douglas Chamberlain, both of Laconia and Michael Chamberlain and his wife Carol of Gilmanton, two sisters; Rosie LaPointe of Laconia and Florence Crotaeu of Boscawen, two great grandchildren; Jodi and Cameron Chamberlain, both of Gilmanton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest J. Carignan in 2006, four brothers; Ernest Prince, Charles Prince, Robert Prince and Jean Paul Prince and one sister, Flora Watts in 2014.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, June 5, 2015 St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 NH Rt 25, Meredith. Burial will follow in the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.
