Joseph Barrett
Augusta, GA – Dr. Joseph Michael “Mike” Barrett, 73, loving and caring husband of 50 years to Donna Barrett, entered into rest May 27th, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital.
A memorial service will be Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Higgins and Rev. Grady Mosley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Life Center.
Family members in addition to his wife include his son: Jeff (Jeanice) Barrett; daughter: Lisa Bradford; sister: Sherron (Bud) Slavens; and grandchildren: Jared, Josh, and Jake Barrett, and Emma Bradford. His loyal canine companion, Jeb, preceded him in death in 2011.
Mike was a retired professor of Anatomy from MCG. He spent many years conducting kidney research and teaching anatomy to medical, allied health, and nursing students. His care for his students and research is evident by his enduring friendships with former professors and students.
He was an avid camper, hiker, fisherman, hunter, and explorer of the outdoors. He fashioned many great relationships in his outdoor endeavors. He enjoyed photography, painting, cooking, knife-making, and traveling. His love of the beauty of nature was unsurpassed.
