Obituary

Laura Mae Silva, formerly of Smithfield, Rhode Island went to meet her Lord and Savior on May 27, 2015 in Baton Rouge, Louisianna. A resident of Rhode Island for many years, she moved to Baton Rouge to be close to her daughter and grandchildren, her sister and sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews 17 years ago. She passed away at St. Joseph's Hospice after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; son Arnold; her parents, Elmer and Mildred (Ellis) Arnold; her brother, Robert Arnold, her sister, Cynthia Crawford and her brother, Bert Arnold.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Coderre,and her husband, Peter and Laura East and her husband, John, her granddaughters: Jennifer and Lindsey East and many close family and friends in Baton Rouge and Rhode Island.

A dignified and proud lady; a lifelong Registered Nurse and nursing instructor; a tireless worker until this past year. She was a survivor of breast and lung cancer; fought proudly against leukemia until the end. She will be missed by all who knew her. A member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, BR.

The family extends appreciation for the care given by OLOL SICU; St. Joseph’s Carpenter House; and all her physicians. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge; St. Joseph’s Hospice; St. Luke’s Episcopal Baton Rouge; St. Augustine Anglican Church, 43723 Birch Manor Ter., Ashburn, VA 20147.

Her funeral Service will be held Tuesday at noon in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation 10-12 am. Burial in Springvale Cemetery, East Providence.
