Obituary

Jean R. “Bob” Beaulieu, 80, of Woonsocket died Monday at the Friendly Home. He was the loving husband of Annette M. (Platiau) Beaulieu. They were married on March 5, 1955 and celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
Born in Woonsocket he was son of the late Ovila “Arthur” and Alice (Dansereau) Beaulieu. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Beaulieu was a United States Navy veteran serving for 4 years during the Korean era aboard the U.S.S. Corregidor.
Following his service Bob worked at Belisle Bakery, Industrial Tool and Machine Shop in Georgiaville and was later employed as the Director of Maintenance for the Woonsocket School Department for many years before retiring.
Bob was an avid card player and participated in the Memory Lane Pitch league, Gerry & Mary Pitch league, Memory Lane Quoits league and the Mixed Couples Bowling. He was a member of the Kapa Beta Gamma Club (Catholic boys & girls club), and the St. Joseph and St. Agatha Senior Citizens Club. He also enjoyed traveling and was the President of the United Cadets of America Ship #10 for 10 years. He was a longtime communicant of St. Agatha’s Parish and a member of the Club Lafayette and St. Joseph’s Veterans Association.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Paulette J. Beaulieu of Woonsocket and he was the father of the late Robert P. Beaulieu who passed away in 1993. He was the brother of Therese Duhamel of FL. and Gertrude Paul of North Smithfield and the late Leo, Edgar, Gerard, Maurice, Normand and Roger Beaulieu, Sr. Lucille Beaulieu (Sr. Ste. Marie du Sacre Coeur) P.M. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
His funeral will be Saturday at 9:00am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha Church, Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-9 pm.
